The Professional Supervisor
This workshop develops the key competencies required for supervisors or managers in any organization. It is for individuals currently working in supervisory positions who wish to improve their ability to adapt to the change of pace in their responsibilities, and who want to gain fresh insights into the nature of their work role.
What You Will Cover
This three day workshop is focused on a supervisor's initial professional development: making the transition to supervisor, understanding roles and responsibilities, planning and prioritizing, developing leadership and communication skills, recognizing how teams work, handling problems, and the basics of motivation and delegation.
Making the transition to supervisor- Moving into a position of authority means meeting new challenges, taking on new responsibilities, and mastering new skills. The Professional Supervisor course will give you tips on how to make the transition a little easier and less stressful.
Responsibilities to management, team, and self- As a supervisor you have big responsibilities to management, the team, and yourself. The Professional Supervisor course will give you tips on how to live up to those responsibilities so that you can be a great supervisor.
Priority and time management: important vs urgent- Time management is an extremely important part of an organization or project running smoothly and on time. As a supervisor you should have good time management skills and be able to differentiate between what is important and what isn't. The Professional Supervisor course will show you how to manage your time and priorities as a supervisor.
Leadership skills: leadership styles, follower readiness, and best practices- As a supervisor you should have exceptional leadership skills. The Professional Supervisor course will give you the tools you need to increase your leadership skills so that you can thrive as a supervisor.
Communication skills: listening, asking questions, defining expectations, giving feedback, and being aware of non-verbal messages- Part of being a good supervisor is knowing how to communicate with your employees and anyone else you come into contact with.
